"Tankeskyen is a commissioned work for Scandic Sunnfjord Hotel & SPA. They gave me the keyword 'Sunnfjord' and freedom to paint anything within this theme. I came up with the Idea of an imagined thinking cloud.The landscape in the cloud is from Redalen, out towards Førdefjorden and Engebøfjellet in Norway. The fjord is planned to be filled with 250 million tons of mining waste from Engebøfjellet, by the mining Company Nordic Mining. The city in the background is inspired by Norilsk in Siberia. Norilsk is one of the most polluted places on Earth with an average life expectancy of 60 years.

"Plastic Breakthrough is a painting I have been thinking about creating for many years. In 2017 Norway really opened its eyes to all the plastic pollution. They found a whale stranded and when they opened its stomach it was full of plastic waste. Plastic invades our fjords, killing our wildlife. This was the final drop, I had to start the painting. The woman is breaking through the plastic, tearing it up. She is finally breaking free from it" - Frøydis Aarseth
