Etter 12 år med kursdrift i Pyttergrenden på Sandvikstorget i Bergen har Frøydis flyttet bedriften inn i Strusshamn Senter på Askøy! Her har hun 75 kvm med skole og galleri. Kun 16 minutter fra Bergen sentrum.
After 12 years with an atelier in Pyttergrenden in Bergen, Frøydis has moved her business into Strusshamn Senter, Askøy, Norway! Here she has 75 square meters with space for her school and gallery. It is only a 16 minutes drive from the city center of Bergen.
A new studio!

Frøydis Aarseths new studio will soon open for the public. The studio will contain a gallery and plenty of space for various drawing and painting courses.
Images of the process from redecorating the studio and information about the new location will soon be revealed.

Her stiller Frøydis med flere nye malerier. Hun er også tilstede gjennom hele utstillingshelgen for de som skulle ha noen spørsmål.
I den vesle bydga, midt i skotlinja til den miljøpolitiske konfliktsona, held Vevring rom for eit genuint mangfald av samtidskunstnarar til det Dagbladet ein gong omtalte som «ei av Noregs viktigaste utstillingar».

Frøydis Aarseth was recently interviewed by NRK (The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation) The largest media organization in the country regarding the Lunar Codex. Frøydis Aarseth’s painting ‘The Shelter’ will be part of a time capsule that will be launched to the Moon in November 2023.

Auction at Sotheby's New York
Frøydis can announce that ‘The Shelter’ sold during the auction at Sotheby's NY!
The Art Renewal Center held an auction hosted on Sothebys.com, which included 60 works from the largest competition in the world for Representational Art. The bidding took place throughout the duration of the show, July 14 – July 24, 2023, while the exhibition was on view at Sotheby’s NY, 1334 York Ave, New York City.
There was also a special event the 22 of July (Since 'The shelter' won an FWSD award)
The Art and Beauty Behind Fashion. Fashion Week San Diego (FWSD) selected 10 works from the 16th International ARC Salon to take part in an exclusive opportunity with Fashion Week San Diego Designers. FWSD designers was matched with the winning artists’ work and the designers created an original couture outfit inspired by the work of art from the ARC Salon. The ARC Salon winning works along with the specially designed garments was on display with live models at this special event. Guests/attendees was able to "vote" for their favourite piece and pairing.
" 'The Shelter’ is a painting that means a lot to me, as most of my paintings it holds a deeper meaning. The current situation in Ukraine and the terrible images from the war inspired me to paint the people who must hide and survive in improvised shelters. The artwork is painted on a lightly sanded copper panel where small areas of the patina have been preserved with varnish to enhance the feeling of hardness" Frøydis Aarseth
Grand Art Commission
Frøydis Aarseth was commissioned to decorate the entire, newly built, 5th floor at Scandic Sunnfjord Hotel & SPA. That is 44 rooms, 2 suites and corridor, a total of 155 paintings! Now, the floor is finally ready, see the result below.
Frøydis chose paintings that would match the colour and style of the different rooms. All the artworks are photos of paintings that she have made over the years. Some of them are close ups of certain details from larger paintings. Frøydis felt this made the rooms more personal and inviting. They are all printed on sturdy aluminium plates.

Frøydis Aarseth's new art commission is now revealed!
Frøydis has been commissioned to decorate the entire newly built 5th floor of Scandic Sunnfjord Hotel & SPA with her paintings. This includes 44 rooms and several corridors. Images of the process will be posted.

Amazing news from the Art Renewal Center! I am happy to announce that my painting ‘The Shelter’ has won the FWSD (Fashion Week San Diego) Award and will be on display at Sotheby’s in New York!
This year, there were over 5,400 entries from 75 countries in the 16th International ARC Salon, a competition representing some of the best contemporary realism artwork in the world.
An FWSD designer will be matched with my artwork and create an original couture outfit inspired by the work of art. The ARC Salon winning works along with the specially designed garments will be on display with live models for a special event while the 16th ARC Salon Exhibition is on view in New York City. Guests/attendees will be able to "vote" for their favorite piece and pairing.
As part of the award, an image of my painting will be included in the Lunar Codex time capsule to be placed permanently on the south pole of the moon, launched by SpaceX as part of a NASA-related mission scheduled for fall 2023.
Additionally, my original painting will be displayed as part of the International ARC Salon Exhibition at Sotheby's NY from July 14-24. The show is then planned to continue on to Sotheby's Los Angeles later this year.

I am a full-time artist. When I had my first child, I didn't announce it because I was afraid of losing galleries and collectors. But now I know the truth. My second child was only 3 months old when I got my biggest art commission so far. I breastfed full time and worked full time. It is wrong to say that female artists work less when they have children. The truth is that they just work more. After painting at home while my husband had 8 months paternity leave, it is my turn. I am currently taking two months maternity leave to spend some time with my baby, I will be back painting full-time again from the 3d of December. For now, I will let new ideas for paintings grow and flourish. Having some time off is really opening my eyes to so many new motives.

The big reveal!

After several months of work on my largest commission so far, my painting for Scandic Sunnfjord Hotel & SPA is revealed. The painting was unveiled at Heilekonferansen with the entire business community in the region present.
The original painting hangs outside the beautiful new conference hall at the Hotel , and a fantastic print by Kruse Reklame has been made at a whopping 6x7 metres!! There is also a limited edition of 70 prints.
Many thanks to Scandic Sunnfjord Hotel & SPA for this commission and for a fantastic collaboration! I feel honored to be able to decorate the hotel's walls with my paintings.
"Tankeskyen is a commissioned work for Scandic Sunnfjord Hotel & SPA. They gave me the keyword 'Sunnfjord' and freedom to paint anything within this theme. I came up with the Idea of an imagined thinking cloud.The landscape in the cloud is from Redalen, out towards Førdefjorden and Engebøfjellet. The city is inspired by Norilsk in Siberia.
The painting holds a deeper meaning than what immediately meets the eye. This is up to the viewer to find" - Frøydis Aarseth

The biggest canvas so far.
My new canvas measures 200 cm x 248 cm! I have been commissioned by Scandic Sunnfjord Hotel & SPA to make a painting that will hang outside theire new main hall at the hotel. The theme is Sunnfjord, a theme I really appreciate being assigned. I look forward to sharing videos of the painting process on Instagram. For each video you will be able to see more and more of this huge painting

A year filled with commissions
The year of 2021 has been filled with many commission.
All types of commissions, from landscapes, still life's to portraits. It has been hectic but also filled with joy and growth. It seems like my clients temporary changed their arena to be on a safer distance from Covid. Meeting me directly in my studio and wanting more personal paintings like portraits of their loved ones or their cabin in the woods that they could not visit due to a lockdown.
Currently it seems like life is slowly going back to normal in Norway. And I am starting to paint for new exhibitions once again. Some of the exhibitions I was supposed to hold earlier this year has been postponed to 2022.

Posted above is a wonderful commission where I got to paint three sisters in my studio and in that way, incorporate their beautiful personality into the portraits.
All three portraits were painted with Old Holland paint on high quality linen canvas with oil ground.

Exhibition in Barcelona

The European Museum of Modern Art -MEAM- is preparing a great exhibition with prominent women painters. For this, an initial selection of 78 artists from all over the world, of extraordinary quality, has been made.
Frøydis Aarseth is one of the chosen artists.
Her painting is titled 'Mask off'.
The phrase,mask off, is a reference to taking off a facade and revealing the truth underneath.

Virtual opening
In 2019 my painting "Plastic Breakthrough" won The FWSD Award (Fashion Week San Diego Award) from The Art Renewal Center.
"Plastic Breakthrough is a painting I have been thinking about creating for many years. In 2017 Norway really opened its eyes to all the plastic pollution. They found a whale stranded and when they opened its stomach it was full of plastic waste. Plastic invades our fjords, killing our wildlife. This was the final drop, I had to start the painting. The woman is breaking through the plastic, tearing it up. She is finally breaking free from it"
Due to COVID-19 it was not possible to bring the 14th ARC Salon Exhibition live to Sotheby’s NY as planned, but ARC viewed this as an opportunity to mount a virtual salon exhibition at Sothebys.com with the possibility of reaching an even larger audience!
A selected Fashion Week San Diego designer created an original couture outfit inspired by my painting along with the seven other winners of the FWSD award. This was incorporated in “The Art & Beauty Behind Fashion event at Sothebys.com. Visitors to the Virtual ARC Salon had the opportunity to "vote" for their favorite piece and pairing.
The winner was announced at the major FWSD fall runway shows October 2020 in California where the eight looks with live models and salon works was incorporated.
