Plastic breakthrough

In 2017 a whale stranded outside Sotra in Norway with its belly full of plastic. Inspired by the plastic problem, Frøydis painted "Plastic Breakthrough", a painting that has won several awards and been exhibited at Sotheby's in New York, USA.

Take care

A painting inspired by our precious bees. Nearly 90 percent of all wild flowering plants depend at least to some extent on animal pollination. Caring for bees and other pollinators is part of the fight against world hunger.

The Thought Cloud

'The Thought Cloud' / 'Tankeskyen' is a commissioned work for Scandic Sunnfjord Hotel & SPA.They gave Frøydis the keyword 'Sunnfjord' (Municipality, Vestland, Norway) and freedom to paint anything within this theme Frøydis came up with the Idea of an imagined thinking cloud. The landscape in the cloud is from Redalen, out towards the Førde fjord and the mountain Engebøfjellet in Sunnfjord. This fjord is planned to be filled with 170 million tons of mining waste from Engebøfjellet, by the mining company, Nordic Mining. The city in the background is inspired by Norilsk in Siberia. Norilsk is one of the most polluted places on Earth with an average life expectancy of 60 years.

The Shelter

The painting is inspired by the current situation in Ukraine and the terrible images from the war. People who must hide to survive in improvised shelters. The artwork is painted on a lightly sanded copper panel where small areas of the patina have been preserved with varnish to enhance the feeling of hardness.

Selfie world

When all we see is the screen in front of us.

Just close your eyes

This painting is inspired by the feeling many have experienced. Closing our eyes, to ignore something bad and pretend it is not happening. But this time it's the state of the planet.

Mask off

The phrase, mask off, is a reference to taking off a facade and revealing the truth underneath.

Body and soul

Body and soul - one perfect unity.

Selma

Frøydis often use her family members as models. Selma has been portrayed several times. There is no deeper meaning to this painting other than the beauty of the curves of the body and the dreamy appearance of Selma gazing into the unknown.

Into the night

Inspired by Odd Nerdrums dark figures, in a timeless world, Frøydis painted 'Into the night' A woman is ready to embark on a long journey. Defying her fears and start something new.

The dreamer

Many have experienced the feeling, when drifting to sleep, weightlessness takes over and the ground suddenly disappears
